Love was not shown, especially when Lord Capulet slapped Juliet after she said she did not want to marry Paris. The ingredients used in this specific recipe are quite simple and very accessible. Many people already have most of these items already at hand. The ingredients for the cake itself are as followed: â⬠¢Bakerââ¬â¢s German Sweet Chocolate â⬠¢Water â⬠¢Cake Flour â⬠¢Baking Soda â⬠¢Salt â⬠¢Softened Butter â⬠¢Sugar â⬠¢Separated Eggs â⬠¢Vanilla â⬠¢Buttermilk When making the cake batter with a mixer or without a mixer it will end up being light and fluffy. Along with the cake ingredients, there are also items needed for the coconut pecan icing for decorating the cake. Once mixed set aside until it is needed. Next take an even bigger bowl and a stand or hand mixer, and add one cup or two sticks or softened butter and two cups of sugar. Once these ingredients are added in; mix on medium speed until the mixture is light and fluffy. Next add the four egg yolks, one at a time, beating well after each addition. After this step is successfully complete, take the melted chocolate and blend it into the big bowl. Once blended in add one and a half teaspoons of vanilla. The next step would be to add the dry ingredients that were mixed together earlier and mix in one cup of buttermilk back to back. So add a little flour mix then add a little buttermilk until all of the items are in the bowl. After mixing the batter should be nice and fluffy now. The next step is adding in the egg yolks, one at a time, again beating well after each addition. All of the previous steps are to be mixed on a medium speed. In a separate bowl, mix the egg whites, which were separated previously, on high speed until soft peaks form. Using a spoon, gently fold the egg whites into the cake mixture. Once doing this the texture of the batter will be similar to that of a chocolate mousse. The last two steps of this cake making process include one preparing three eight or nine inch cake pans by greasing the sides of the pans and pouring the batter evenly. The second includes baking the cake at three hundred and fifty degrees for thirty minutes or until completely done. While the cake is inside the oven cooking, it is time now to make the coconut pecan frosting. Remember to check on the cake while making the frosting and take it out for it to cool down. The frosting process, like the cake process, is very detailed. But the only difference in the two processes would be that the frosting takes much less time to make unlike the cake. So the steps for making the frosting are as followed: â⬠¢In a medium saucepan, heat off, add in four egg yolks, a can of evaporated milk, one and a half teaspoon of vanilla, and wisk it together until it is well blended â⬠¢Add one and a half cups of sugar and three fourths of a cup or one and a half sticks of butter and put it over medium heat. Make sure to stir the mixture constantly for about twelve minutes or until the mix has thickened â⬠¢While stirring the mix playing a couple of songs can make the time fly by much faster â⬠¢After the previous step add one package of Bakerââ¬â¢s Angel Flake Coconut and one and a half cups of chopped pecans. â⬠¢Now that everything is mixed in you can turn everything off and let it cool down. Every sixty minutes, when the clock strikes the hour, the cuckoo bird of a cuckoo clock will come out of its hiding place and herald the time with it's chirping ofcuckoo! cuckoo!? In the film, Nurse Ratched and her assistant, like clockwork, call the patients to form a line and receive their medication. Everything has to follow a certain order for Nurse Ratched and those who don't conform are dealt with severely. But the poor treatment of mental patients is not the message that Milo? Forman wishes to convey in the film. It is that our rigid and conformist society punishes and mistreats those who go against the system. Randall McMurphy, as played by Jack Nicholson, is the ultimate non-conformist, having been sent to prison for crimes such as rape. When he arrives at the mental institution, he turns Nurse Ratched's organized, predictable system on its head by gambling, proposing to watch the World Series on television, and even taking the patients on an impromptu, and unauthorized fishing trip. All of this, of course, annoys and disturbs Nurse Ratched to no end. Always dressed in pristine whites, not a hair out of place and her eyebrows perfectly plucked, her rigid control and unwillingness to be flexible to the needs and desires of the patients, represent the majority of society who is not willing to accept radical changes and ostracizes all those who try to introduce them. A third faction of society is represented in the character of Big Chief, a seemingly deaf-mute Indian giant. Big Chief represents all those who see the injustices and mistreatment in society but say nothing because they don't want to get involved. The fact that McMurphy the rebel, draws him out and encourages him to first participate in the basketball game, then to actually speak, shows that many people keep quiet and conform until they just can't take it anymore. Does Life Have Meaning? Danny Irwinà Since the beginning of time people have been asking the universal question of What is the meaning of life? Answers from people today may vary greatly from that of thousands of years ago. However, two key philosophers, Camus and Nagel, have both contributed greatly to what we believe gives life value. Nagels stance is that no matter what, we can always doubt that the world has any intrinsic value, or that everything we do matters. Camus, however, focuses on the idea of the confrontation between mans demand for meaning/sense/value/rationality and the worlds intrinsic lack of these same values. Personally, I side with Camus and his beliefs due to the fact that each decision we make on a day to day basis is somehow correlated with each demand. One of the key differences between Camus and Nagel is Camus maintains in The Myth of Sisyphus that the absurd arises because the world is unable to meet our demands for meaning. This suggests that the world might satisfy those demands if it were different. This idea depends on not only people but the world, similar to the idea of Sir I Exist. One cannot be without the other. If people did not demand meaning, or if the world wasnt meaningful enough there wouldnt be any absurd. Then if you look at Nagel, his absurd is entirely contained within people, and the fact that people can always doubt that the world is meaningful, so, therefore, the absurd is an essential fact to that of human existence. While each viewpoint is important, I am more interested in the response that each philosopher, especially Nagel, has to the absurd. Camus response to the absurd is naturally, rebellion: the idea of being honest with yourself about the true meaninglessness of the world, but not giving up on your mandate for meaning. This, however, doesnt erase the absurd nothing short of suicide can do that but instead, it allows us to live with honesty, dignity, and integrity. Then there is Nagels response, irony. Which, to me, appears that it is simply an attempt at Camus rebellion, but it falls short and ends up amounting to philosophical suicide. Which can be explained by two opposing tendencies that lie within ones self. Nagel argues that the sense of the absurd result from two opposing tendencies within us: To start, we take our lives, or at least activities and projects within lives, seriously, and we cannot avoid doing so. On the flip side, we are also capable of undermining the reasons for any of our projects. Nothing we do can be justified from a point of view radically outside human interests. Nagel condemns the idea of rebellion for being melodramatic and histrionic. He compares it to shaking ones fist at the world and deems it pointless, nothing more than a ridiculous spectacle.Ãâà What does Nagel then recommend? When discussing life through his eyes Nagel ultimately says that, if there is no reason to believe that anything matters, then that doesnt matter either, and we can approach our absurd lives with irony instead of heroism or despair (Nagel, The Absurd) However, that begs the question what is irony? Is it not in and of itself detachment and denial, essentially saying what one doe snt mean? This is what irony looks like, knowing that you may have absolutely no meaning in life, but you continue on your merry way with a grin on your face. Irony is taking life too seriously while also laughing at yourself because you are fully aware of the fact that you are taking it too literally. This is the kind of philosophical suicide that Camus would consider to be a humiliated reason. Irony attempts to weaken, and even, therefore, eliminate the fundamental demand for meaning. Irony reduces the demand for meaning into a simple human desire, which can then be modified or suppressed, at least to some degree. However, meaning is not a desire; but instead is a need. We need meaning almost like we need simple physiological human needs like food and water. We cant simply laugh off meaninglessness and say, I didnt really need objective meaning anyway. That doesnt solve the problem of the absurd as Nagel says it does. That escapes the problem. To be ironic is to not be honest with oneself. While Nagel and Camus each have their own point of view on the world, I believe that Camus perspective is far more logical and is better interpreted for everyday life.

Death of a Salesman - Willy Charley says something in Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman that sums up Willy’s whole life. He asks him, "When the hell are you going to grow up?" Willy’s spends his entire life in an illusion. He sees himself as a great man that is popular and successful. Willy exhibits many childlike qualities. Many of these qualities have an impact on Willy’s family. His two sons Biff and Happy pick up this behavior from their father. He is idealistic, stubborn, and he has a false sense of his importance in the world. Willy is like an impetuous youngster with high ideals and high hopes. Children always have high hopes for their future. They all want to be astronauts or millionaires. Willy always believes he can achieve that kind of success. He never lets go of his wasted life. He dreams of being the man who does all of his business out of his house and dying a rich and successful man. Furthermore, Willy also dreams of moving to Alaska where he could work with his hands and be a real man. Biff and Happy follow in their father’s footsteps in their lofty dreams and unrealistic goals. Biff wastes his life being a thief and a loner; furthermore, Biff, along with happy try to conjure up a crazy idea of putting on a sporting goods exhibition. The problem with Willy is that he never grows up and deals with his obstacles. Willy is also a very stubborn man. He is like a little child that wants to do something their way even though they know that another option would be the wiser choice. Charley practically sets a potential job into Willy’s lap and he refuses it. Willy just was fired and needed a job. He refuses one. Willy is too stubborn to let go of his old job and take a new one. He still believes that he is at the top of his profession. When Willy does not get his way he acts just as a child would. He has tantrums such as when he basically challenged Charley to a fight after he told him to grow up. Biff is also stubborn like his father. He never gives up being a child. He steals and lies. Biff cannot handle being ignored, so he steals a pen. Willy’s childlike stubbornness hampers him throughout his life.
